Celebrate the 90th anniversary of our place in the Waitaks.

Once upon a time all you had to do for a big weekend’s tramping was jump on the train to Swanson and head up the hill to this ATC refuge in the Waitaks for some tramping, time out and relaxation with friends.

In the early days you also filled the nooks and crannies in your pack with building materials toward the creation of Ngaro Te Kotare.

That was 90 years ago.

Ngaro Te Kotare is a significant part of the Club’s history. It is 90 Years old now and we are celebrating this on Sunday 23rd June, 12 noon.

We would encourage everyone with an interest in the Club to come along, enjoy the birthday party and check this gem out.

To get there

Take the Club bus, leaving the garage at 31 Sandringham Rd, Kingsland at 9.00, with a New Lynn pickup at Gymnasium car park, Olympic Park, Portage Road, New Lynn at 9.15. Bus Fare - $10.

Or by car, drive 1.8 kms down the Anawhata Road from the Piha Road turn off and turn right into a drive called Ridge Road on Google where there is a steel gate. The gate will be open on the day. A few metres up this drive turn left toward a parking area.

The track to the Hut is further along the main track going off to the right. This track is not usually marked but will be made obvious on the day.

NTK Door Fee - $5
