Details: The Te Ara Pataka Walkway traverses Banks Peninsula tops from Hilltop, above the Akaroa Harbour through to the Lyttelton Harbour, with great views to numerous bays and beyond to the Canterbury Plains and Alps.
Day 1: Fly to Christchurch or travel to Christchurch from the Lewis Pass Doubtful Tops tramp. Night in Christchurch.
Day 2: Bus trip from Christchurch to Hilltop. The tramp starts by climbing up through the Montgomery Park Reserve, then continues through reserves and over Mt Sinclair and Mt Fitzgerald to reach the new Rob Donald Hut.
Day 3: Continue on over Mt Herbert and Mt Bradley to reach the restored historic Packhorse Hut.
Day 4: A short walk today to the summit of Gebbies Pass for a shuttle pickup and transfer to Christchurch.

Transport: Fly to Christchurch Saturday February 22 or join the trip following on from the Lewis Pass Doubtful Tops trip, returning on Tuesday February 25. Local transport via shuttle / bus

Hut Booking: Rob Donald hut has been booked for 8 people
The Packhorse Hut can be booked using a current Backcountry hut pass. Book that directly ASAP for Monday February 24th by calling Chch DOC on 03 379 4082
