The Tour of Mt Blanc – encircling Europe’s highest mountain  - and the epic Colorado Trail – Denver to Durango.

In July Christine Major and Margaret Law tramped for 11 days around the mighty Mt Blanc massif on the classic Tour route sampling the charms of European hiking in France, Italy and Switzerland.

Follow our journey as we walked in meadows of spring flowers amid panoramas of huge peaks and innumerable glaciers. Experience also a landscape tamed by man of picturesque villages and farms, plus the comforts of accommodation in European Refuges.

Suitably warmed-up Margaret continued on to the USA where she hiked the Colorado Trail in 5 weeks.  This long distance trail stretches 491 miles from just south of Denver to Durango in southern Colorado. 314 miles of the track is shared with the Continental Divide Trail.

Margaret will tell you about her walk through pine and aspen forest, across meadows and over numerous mountain saddles and passes 10,500ft to more than 13,000ft in height. The very rocky trail was made up of many different rock types and colourful mineral deposits, and along the way Margaret encountered a variety of wild flowers plus wild animals small and large. As well she visited some interesting historic small American towns for resupplies.
