Last opportunity to get fit for Christmas tramps. Tramp and enjoy the rugged, beautiful and challenging Coromandel Forest Park !
Fit:

KAUAERANGA - TAIRUA CROSSOVER

Saturday from Kauaeranga road end follow track up river past Moss Creek track to Kauaeranga Gorge. Scramble/swim up gorge to Pinnacles hut for Saturday night. 8-9 hours. Sunday climb Pinnacles, bush bash into Scott Stream and Second Branch of Tairua and out to road at Hikuai. 8-9 hours.

Make sure your gear is waterproof, be prepared to get wet! This is a classic Coromandel trip we have not done for a few years.
Make your own booking online for Pinnacle Hut well in advance, if you're not booked you may not be allowed into the hut. Camp sites are available.

Medium/Fit: MT. ROWE, TABLE MOUNTAIN, WAIWAWA

Saturday up Moss Creek, old track over Mt.Rowe, across Table Mountain (wet, muddy, overgrown, and in some places no track) descend on old track to camp at old Waiwawa Hut site or by the hunters shelter (built from old hut!) - both sites beside Waiwawa River. 9 hours. Sunday up ridge to point 607, on main ridge track to Orange Peel corner, descend to Whangaiteranga Stream/Camp. Walk up Kauaeranga road to the bus. 6 hours.

Some of you missed this trip last time so here is your chance to take on Table Mountain!
Easy/Medium: Saturday up Waionora Track to main range, west along main range on undulating track to Orange Peel Corner, continue on to next junction to Crosbies Hut, on to hut. Excellent views from hut. Explore what is left of Crosbie's settlement. 6 hours. Sunday return to last junction, head south on Karaka Track all the way to Thames. 5 hours.
