Kauri Rescue or Community Control of Kauri Dieback: Tiaki Kauri ...is a two year project funded by the National Science Biological Heritage Challenge which seeks to engage the public in refining a new citizen science tool for the treatment of Kauri Dieback Disease that is decimating kauri forests in northern New Zealand.

They have completed a pilot trial for the use of phosphite in treating kauri trees on private land that are confirmed to have kauri dieaback disease. Now the focus for phase 2 is involving as many particpants as possible so as to broaden the ongoing research.

If you have sick kauri on your property that you would like assistance with, contact Kauri Rescue - they are recruiting participants for Phase 2 of the project now.

Auckland Council will need to test your soil to confirm you have Kauri Dieback before we can start (it's free), so sign up now at www.kaurirescue.org.nz

It is free to join and you will get all the equipment and treatment you need.

In return you will need to monitor the health of your tree(s) and report back. Anyone with sick kauri on their property can join, wherever you live in New Zealand, but we can only treat trees on private land.

f you'd like someone from the Kauri Rescue project to speak to your group or neighbourhood please just ask, they are happy to do so.

Refer their latest newsletter attached for information about this trial.
