In response to public interest, the Kauri Dieback Programme (MPI) has scheduled an additional public meeting at Arataki Visitor Centre next Thursday 13 September to discuss the National Kauri Dieback Management Plan. It is scheduled to run from 6.30pm to 9pm.

This is a follow up to recent consultation on what a national kauri management plan should contain.

Detailed information is on the Kauriu Dieback Programme website - website link

The ATC intends to make a furtther submission for this round - contact Tony for further information on this

Further information from the Programme in relation to this meeting follows:

The Kauri Dieback Programme invites you to a public meeting about the National Pest Management Plan for kauri. This plan will set out rules under the Biosecurity Act 1993 for more consistent and effective management of kauri dieback disease nationally. We want your input to ensure we’ve got the right plan to protect kauri into the future.

Why are we asking you to get involved?

We think you have an interest in strengthening protection for kauri. And protecting kauri requires a collective effort.

We received lots of excellent ideas and feedback for the future management of kauri dieback disease in the first consultation round. But we need you to tell us if we’re on the right track and have reflected these ideas in the refreshed strategy and the National Pest Management Plan. We’d also like you to tell us what you think of our ideas for the management agency (the organisation) that will implement the plan.

How to get involved

The second round of consultation is open from 20 August to 18 September 2018. If you can’t make a public meeting, or even if you do, you can still make a submission. The information we want your feedback on will be live on our website on 20 August 2018, when the consultation is open. We’ll let you know when it’s ready.
