Club Trips Restarting in July !
Our intention is that club trips will resume from July, on the assumption that the current success in managing the Covid-19 pandemic in New Zealand continues without a hitch. July will see the start of day walks, including a weekend where we run two day walks to Mt Pirongia one day and Mt Karioi the next, staying Saturday night at the Raglan Holiday Park. Our first full weekend trip will be in August, with details to be confirmed towards the end of June / beginning of July.

Do continue to check the
Day Walks Calendar on our website for updates, as everything is still quite provisional.

Next Club Night - Thursday June 18 - Christmas Trips
This will be a casual meeting to view an extravaganza of photos from our 2019-2020 Christmas and Interim trips, as well as a chance to catch up with club members that you have not been able to meet for a few months.

It is expected we will still be in Level 2 at that stage, so current rules around social distancing will still apply; there will be a sign in register, and we have yet to confirm whether or not we can provide the usual hot drink and snack. While generally the maximum group size now is 100 people, the Remuera Bowling Club has mandated that the maximum group size for our meeting is 50 people.

ATC Annual General Meeting - July 16th

The 95th Annual General Meeting of the Auckland Tramping Club (Inc) will be held at the Remuera Bowling Club, 6 Market Rd, Remuera, on Thursday 16th July, 2020 at 7.30 pm.

The 2020 Annual Report is now available to view on our website -
website link. Please take time to read the wide range of information provided by this report before the meeting, so that during the meeting we can usefully discuss any questions you may have.

Please note that this document, previous annual reports, and other important ATC documents are now located on our website on the
ATC Documents page.

ATC Members Ballot - June 2020

During June we need approval from members to confirm the committee's recommendation that we should maintain our subscription rates at the same level as last year. Rather than relying on physical meetings for this purpose, or the willingness of individual members to attend meetings, we are seeking this approval via a Members' Ballot.

The Ballot Paper is on our website at
this link. Please read the information provided, and then return the signed ballot paper by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.or by post, to arrive no later than 5pm on Friday June 19th. Our postal address is

  • The Secretary, Auckland Tramping Club
  • PO Box 2358
  • Shortland Street
  • Auckland 1140

This ballot is available for all current ATC members as at June 19th, 2020.

Mt Pirongia and Mt Karioi - July 25-26
This is a popular two day trip that marks the resumption of our overnight trips away from Auckland. We leave on Saturday morning and follow one of two routes up onto Mt Pirongia, before retiring to the Raglan Holiday Park on Saturday evening.

On Sunday we take on Mt Karioi, with an afternoon short walk into the Bridal Veil Falls if time permits, before returning home on Sunday evening.

On Saturday night there is the option for you to sleep on the bus, to tent, or to organise your own accommodation at the Holiday Park. Self cater for dinner, or enjoy a meal at one of the many eating places in Raglan.

Full details are here at this
website link. Note that you need to book in online and pay a deposit, with the balance of the fare / accommodation being paid on the weekend itself.

Hawaii 2020 - Cancelled

As you would expect, this trip has now been cancelled for this year, and all registered people have been advised. There is a good possibility that this trip will be rescheduled for a similar time next year.
