July sees the start of day walks, including a weekend where we run two day walks to Mt Pirongia one day and Mt Karioi the next, staying Saturday night at the Raglan Holiday Park. Our first full weekend tramp will be in August, with the that and the September and October weekend tramps already advertised, open for bookings, and filling up fast. So don't delay .....
Next Club Night - Thursday July 16 - AGM and 1930's Retrospective
The 95th Annual General Meeting of the Auckland Tramping Club (Inc) will be held at the Remuera Bowling Club, 6 Market Rd, Remuera, on Thursday 16th July, 2020 at 7.30 pm.
The 2020 Annual Report is now available to view on our website - website link. Please take time to read the wide range of information provided by this report before the meeting, so that during the meeting we can usefully discuss any questions you may have.
Please note that this document, previous annual reports, and other important ATC documents are now located on our website on the ATC Documents page.
Following the AGM proceedings we will revisit what ATC members were doing in the 1930's, thanks to our very first Wanderlust magazines and photos taken at the time. They were an intrepid bunch !
Mt Pirongia and Mt Karioi - July 25-26

Whanganui Forest and Matemateaonga Walkway - October 23 - 26
This is Labour Weekend, so time for a 3 day tramp into the depths of the Whanganui Forest. We are running five different trip options including a west to east and east to west walk along the historic Matemateaonga Walkway, tramp past the Bridge to Nowhere to Whakahoro, a comfortable stay at the Bridge To Nowhere Lodge way up the Whanganui River with day walk options, and the Fit party will try not to get lost in the less well tracked parts of the western forest. Most parties get at least one jet boat ride on the Whanganui River - definitely not one to miss ! Website link
There are a number of trip options now advertised for immediately following Christmas, Interim trips during February, and a Safari trip for the second half of February. Check these all out, contact the leaders at this website link. Note that the Christmas and Interim trips are all significant multi day trips which expect you to have good fitness and know what to take ... and leave at home. To be eligible for these trips you need to take advantage of the great tramping opportunities in our weekend multi-day tramps programme between now and the summer.
Please welcome new members Desiree McNie, Mike Bickerdike, Claire Bickerdike, Daniel Bickerdike, Ellen Hawke, and Kayla Kasarherou.
