Preparation: Because our Summer trips can involve longer days and bigger terrain than we Aucklanders may be used to, they do require a prior commitment to fitness and endurance training - especially in the 2-3 months immediately prior to the trip.

At a minimum this means multiple multi-day (ATC or similar) trips with some decent hills in them.

This will enable you to complete and enjoy your chosen trip and is important for Medium trips and vital for Medium-Fit and Fit trips.

When initially enquiring about a trip, ask the leader what sort of fitness will be required.
