Only ATC members can book a trip up to 3 weeks before a trip commences. After that time, non-member bookings may be accepted.

The island of Tiritiri Matangi is a special pest free sanctuary off the end of Wnangaparaoa Peninsula. There is a great variety of native bird life that appreciates decades of work restoring native bush, including work by ATC members between the 1980’s and 2000’s – there used to be an annual ATC working bee weekend on the island.
This trip has two major limits – accommodation is for a maximum of only 15 people, and weekends for the full 15 people are impossible to come by, so we are running this as a midweek “weekend” trip.
The schedule is to have two half days and one full day available for exploring the island. Each day we will run a walk for everyone, but as you will know, the best bird spotting opportunities will be found when you travel in small quiet groups and take your time to sit and wait. Night time will be a chance for you to try your hand at kiwi spotting. A swimming group can of course organise their own schedule !
Departure: Wednesday morning from Okahu Bay (parking available) time TBA
Return: Friday afternoon to Okahu Bay

If the trip shows as full when you book, do continue with your booking – often waiting list people do have the opportunity of joining a trip, and dependent on the size of the waiting list, we could reschedule this as a more frequent event in future.
