Only ATC members can book a trip up to 3 weeks before a trip commences. After that time, non-member bookings may be accepted.

Something new for the Club – two excellent day walks in the Kawhia area. On Saturday we walk the stunning west coast from Aotea Harbour to Kawhia township, enjoying a stop at the hot springs on the way – think Hot Water Beach without the crowds. Then on Sunday we sample the best tracks in beautiful Te Kauri Reserve. Both walks rated Easy. Friday and Saturday nights are at Forest View Motor Camp in Kawhia. Optionally eat out in town Saturday night. Saturday drive to Aotea village, take Aotea Walkway or Maukutea Beach, around Nihinihi Point and south along the wide, black-sand beach to Te Puia Springs. Lunch here and a soak if you can find the hot spots, then south around Tauratahi Point, across the inlet and around Matatua Point into town (for an ice cream?). 5 hrs. Sunday drive to Te Kauri Reserve. Walk the short loop track behind the Lodge, then Manuka, Warikanui, Waikuku and Devlins (impressive rock formations) tracks to return to the bus, 4 hrs. Shorter option available for those wanting to avoid the worst of the mud. Could be lengthened to include McKenzie and Sheep tracks. We have booked out all the cabins at Forest View Motor Camp, with a bunk for everyone. Bring sleeping bag, pillow and towel.
