Booking a Tramping Trip
Day Walks
You don’t need to book or prepay for day walks. Just turn up at the pickup location at the designated time.
Bring the advertised fare in cash – we’ll collect it at the end of the walk.
If you are not able to pay in cash, please transfer the trip fee into the ATC bank account - see Payment Instructions below.
Two Day Walk Weekends
Details will be in the relevant trip description in the calendar. Bookings and pre-payment are required.
Multiday weekend tramps
Bookings and pre-payment are always required. Here’s what you need to do:
- Read the trip description carefully to make sure you understand what the trip involves
- Phone the leader to obtain approval to join the trip - the leader's decision is final. If you are accepted, the leader will give you a "Trip Leader Code"
- Then book online on the trip details page for the tramp (accessed through the calendar)
- Pay the trip fee into the Club bank account – see how below
Important: You are only confirmed for the trip when you have completed all 4 of these steps. Our weekend tramps are very popular, so Club policy is to cancel any booking where payment hasn't been made so another member can take the space.
Extended multiday tramps
Requirements will vary. Some will require booking online and pre-payment just as for weekend tramps. For others, the leader will decide arrangements - please action any requests or requirements as quickly as you can.

Cancellations
If you need to cancel a tramp after making a booking, please contact the trip leader as soon as possible and also email
If you need to cancel a booking for Ngaro Te Kotare hut, please e-mail the huts officer as soon as possible:
Refund Policy
Generally, if you cancel for a tramp more than 7 days before departure time you will get a full refund. Refunds for cancellations within 7 days will be at the discretion of the Committee.
However, where a tramp fee includes payments to other parties, such as for accommodation or transport, that portion of the fee might not be refundable unless someone can take your place.
Ngaro Te Kotare Hut cancellations: A full refund will be given if notice of cancellation is received 4 weeks or more prior to the date booked. Within 4 weeks, generally no refund will be given, but in exceptional circumstamces applications may be considered by the Club Committee.
Note: Payments are made by the Club once a month so there may be a delay before you receive your refund.
